Delete your account and data
Last updated: May 2, 2026
This page explains how users of the Macecilia mobile app can delete their account and what happens to associated data after deletion. The developer name and app listing name on Google Play should match Macecilia.
Who this applies to
If you signed up through the Macecilia mobile app, follow the steps below.
How to delete your account (mobile app)
- Open the Macecilia app and sign in.
- On the Home screen, tap your profile picture or the person icon in the top bar to open Profile.
- Scroll to Delete Account (shown in red) and tap it.
- In the confirmation dialog, enter your password and tap Delete.
After confirmation, your session ends and your account deletion is processed on our servers.
Website accounts (dashboard)
If you use the website with a dashboard account instead of only the mobile app, sign in on the web, open Profile → Edit profile, and use Delete account after entering your password. If you are unsure whether you have a separate web-only account, use the support contact below.
What we remove when your mobile account is deleted
When you successfully complete account deletion in the app (with password confirmation), we generally remove or deactivate the following that is tied to your account identifier:
- Account and profile: your login record (including email and hashed password), name, subscription flags on our side that are stored on your profile row, device metadata we stored on your profile where applicable.
- Sessions: all API tokens for that account are revoked.
- Playlists: your playlists and their links to songs are removed.
- Listening and downloads list: records of song plays and downloads associated with your account.
- In-app notifications we store for your account.
- Profile photo: your avatar image file is removed from our storage when one was uploaded.
What we may retain and why
Like most services, some information may persist for limited periods beyond immediate deletion—for example:
- Backups: secure backups may briefly retain copies until rotated or expired.
- Operational or security logs: server or application logs that do not unnecessarily identify you may be kept for integrity and abuse prevention.
- Legal and compliance: where we must retain certain records (for example invoices, disputes, lawful requests).
- Anonymised or aggregated data that does not reasonably identify an individual.
Uploaded content belonging to creators (such as publicly published music attributed to artists) may be governed by separate content and moderation policies. If your account was only a listener profile, deletion focuses on listener data as described above.
Partial data deletion (without deleting your account)
Some profile fields or content may be editable or removable inside the app or website without full account deletion. If you need a specific item removed but want to keep your account, describe the request when you contact us below.
Need help?
If you cannot access the app, need confirmation of deletion, or have questions about retained data:
- Email or support channel configured for your Macecilia deployment, or
- Use support from the mobile app settings where available.
